This is a gentle place where quiet work from the heart can be heard above the clamor of the The Big Apple - work that affirms the human spirit. We occupy our own building in Northern Tribeca, the landmarked 1828 “Canal House”.
We offer two venues- The Front Room and The Back Room where creative energy percolates in a playful, hurly burly atmosphere.
The Back Room is furnished with upholstered theater seats from the legendary Sullivan Street Playhouse, where The Fantasticks ran for longer than any show in New York history. It seats 50. In this room we specialize in producing or co-producing one & two character revivals and new plays, as well as ongoing play readings. At our Weekend Brunch/Matinee Series we present European style circus performances, and variety acts that appeal to a diverse audience. Guided by the motto “bring a kid or the kid you are” we program entertainment that transcends age and brings generations together. In addition to live productions, we screen classic movies and cartoons on weekends at 11.
The Front Room with cabaret chairs and tables, seats 35 and features our own The Waffle Iron Café. We use this room for cabaret-style performances and have presented variety shows, singer-songwriters, one-person readings and even 5-minute video shorts in this space.
The Waffle Iron Café, located in our Front Room, is home to The Decadent Dark Chocolate Waffle. We offer an optional Prix Fixe or a la Carte Brunch before or after all weekend shows. Wine, beer, mimosas and strawberry champagne cocktails- a Playhouse original- are also available. The café serves optional light, waffle-branded dinners with evening shows. MENU

Rentals and Birthday Parties
We make our Back Room theater space available at a reasonable rate for work consistent with our goals. Also, two birthday party options are available depending on show schedules and your needs.

For the most scenic walk:
Take the E or C trains to Spring Street. Walk west on Spring two blocks to Greenwich, then walk south on Greenwich to Canal and we are right across the street.
Or, (If you don’t mind navigating the entrance to the Holland Tunnel):
Take the A C or 1 trains to Canal Street. Walk west on the south side of Canal. We are located between Greenwich and Washington Streets, almost at the Hudson River.
Both the Spring and Canal Street stations are the same 5 minute walk to The Playhouse
